Doula Jenn is your UC San Diego Health Hillcrest – Hillcrest Medical Center doula. The following information is about the birth experience offered at this location.
Monitors available: Telemetry units and external fetal monitors. Hospital policy of 20 minutes every hour for those laboring naturally, nurse may use Doppler as well. “Monica” wireless, Bluetooth available upon request.
Birth balls: Yes, but sizing is generalized. Recommended you bring yours from home and leave it in the car, if needed then bring it in.
Peanut balls: Yes, available in every room.

After hours entrance: Normal entrance, just pick up the phone and let security know where you’re headed.

Placenta removal policy: Complete form in advance, some may not be familiar with procedures. Ensure placenta is not tampered with and nothing is added to it. The nurses will send it to pathology and that is where you will need to go to get it released, they’ll box it up for removal.
